IT was a busy weekend in the North Bucks & District League, with goals flying in all over the place in various competitions.
They may have had a break from normal league action, but City Colts kept their place at the top of the Premier Division for another week as they progressed to the second round of the Premier Division Trophy with a 5-0 thrashing of Potterspury.
That competition brought disappointment for Great Linford who lost 4-3 on penalties to Yardley Gobion after a 2-2 draw.
In the top division itself, MK Titans’ struggles continued as they suffered a shocking 10-2 beating at Brackley Sports, while Great Horwood missed the chance to leapfrog City Colts to the top of the table when they went down 1-0 at home to Stewkley.
It’s been a good few weeks for Woburn Sands Wanderers who sit pretty at the top of the Intermediate Division and thumped title rivals Buckingham Town Res 5-2 to reach the Intermediate Division Trophy second round.
The other tie saw Wolverton Town Res lose 5-1 to Bow Brickhill, while in the league there was a 2-2 draw between AFC Santander and City Colts Res, Potterspury Res lost 6-1 to Brackley Sports Res, and Wicken Sports were 5-3 winners over Syresham.
The Division One Trophy first round saw a 5-2 win for Olney against Cage Athletic and 3-1 defeat for Woughton at the hands of Padbury Village.
In the league, Bow Brickhill Res made it 14 wins out of 14 by beating Stoke Hammond 4-1, while Great Linford Res suffered a 4-3 defeat to University of Buckingham.
With Comet MK in Division Two Trophy action, Great Horwood Res moved four points clear at the top of the table with a 3-2 victory against Hanslope Res.
Comet reached the second round of the Trophy by beating MK Wanderers ‘A’ 5-3, while Scot Youth lost 9-8 on penalties to Wing Village after a 1-1 draw.
Back in the league, St George’s lost 4-2 to Steeple Claydon, Stantonbury Social Elite won 4-1 at Silverstone, and Padbury Village Res lost 4-3 to Marsh Gibbon Res.
