North Bucks League: Wolves show cutting edge

With soggy pitches all over the region because of the rain that came down on Friday night and Saturday morning, the majority of North Bucks & District League games were called off.

However, one team worth a special mention this week are Wolverton Town Reserves who hammered local rivals Deanshanger Athletic 9-0 in the Intermediate Division.

Although Deanshanger are bottom of the pile, Wolves have themselves struggled in 2012-13, and their emphatic 9-0 victory against their near neighbours was only their fourth win of the campaign. It also did their goal difference a world of good, now just -23!

Their goal scorers were: Collins (4), Clarke, Milton, Coleman, Munro and Proctor.

Elsewhere, Olney were held to a 1-1 draw by Charlton & District in Division One, as Stoke Hammond Wanderers beat Woughton 5-3 to keep their title hopes alive.

The top two in Division Two both managed to play, and recorded wins, with Scot 7-1 winners against Hanslope Res and Comet MK beating Westbury 5-1. Meanwhile MK Wanderers ‘A’ were beaten 1-0 by Great Horwood Res.

There was only one game played in the New City Heating Sunday League, Stantonbury Social Elite 5-4 winners over Buckingham United in their Division One game.
