Penalty pain for Stony as they miss out on treble

Stony Stratford U13s narrowly missed out on a remarkable treble as they lost on penalties in the final of the Chiltern Sunday League Cup to Luton Borough Youth.

Having already wrapped up the Sunday League Division 1 title and lifted the Berks & Bucks County Cup, Stony went into the final as favourites.

However, Luton Borough were determined not to let their rivals win a treble as there really isn’t that much difference between these two excellent sides.

It was a great reward for the players who have put so much effort in the earlier rounds to get to the final

The pace of the game was incredible from the off: both sides fully committed and going for the win.

This was an exciting game, and a great display of quality football played at a ferocious tempo. It was a fine way to end a magnificent season for Stony Stratford side but unfortunately the treble was not meant to be.

After full time and neither side had broken the deadlock.

It then went down to penalties to decide the winner with Luton winning 4-2.
