Sunday League: Willen edge closer to Stony’s title

Just in case there was still any doubt, Willen confirmed their superiority in the New City Heating Premier Division by beating closest rivals Olney Town 4-1.

With a handful of games left to play, Willen are as good as champions. The only side who could have something to say about it are AFC Santander but even that looks unlikely.

The only other game in the top flight on Sunday brought a crushing 9-0 defeat for Stoke Hammond at the hands of an improving Stony Stratford, who will have to relinquish their Premier Division title to Willen in the weeks ahead.

Coachmakers Arms took a break from dominating the rest in Division One to take on Budgens in the county cup.

Unfortunately they were beaten 2-1 in the Junior Cup semi final and now have only the league to concentrate on.

New City Saints have now emerged as the biggest threat to their title push following a 9-2 hammering of Stanton Manor. Elsewhere FC MMIX beat bottom side Stantonbury Social Elite 4-0 and there was a 2-2 draw between MK United and Buckingham.
