Newport Pagnell Town were brought back down to earth on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Peterborough Northern Star.
The result sees Daren Lynch’s men drop to third in UCL Premier Division, with AFC Kempston leapfrogging them into second place.
In a scrappy affair, Star took the lead after 16 minutes when Harry Fitzjohn’s cross was heavily deflected and Jacob Joyce bundled the ball over the line to open the scoring.
The home side controlled the opening 45 minutes and took their lead into the interval, and doubled the advantage 13 minutes after the restart.
Joyce again was on hand to stab home after Declan Rogers’ long-range free kick fell into his path.
Newport were given a lifeline back into the affair when substitute Josh Crawley slotted home past keeper Daniel George to make it 2-1 on 68 minutes.
But despite a lot of pressure in the latter stages, Swans couldn’t test George and left with defeat.
