IT’S been a remarkable season for all connected to Emberton Athletic’s U14 team who completed a breathtaking Milton Keynes and Border Counties Youth League treble this season.

Under the guidance of boss Simon Faulkner, the team, pictured, went the whole season unbeaten on their way to lifting the Division One title, the U14 Cup and Berks & Bucks County Cup.

What made the success even more memorable was that their 2-1 County Cup final victory over Reading-based Eldon Celtic at Abingdon came the day after they beat City Colts 4-0 to claim the League Cup at stadium:mk. Glory is nothing new to this team though.

“Having spent four years with this team in the DJ7s League, just having fun and teaching the boys the best way to play the game, we stepped up to the MK & Border Counties League to play 11-a-side football,” explained Faulkner.

“They took to it very well, playing a good style – which gained them some great success. The 2009/10 season saw us win the Division One title and League Cup double and the following season they reclaimed their League crown. And now this year’s success has been a fantastic achievement by the boys.

“To go a whole season unbeaten has required terrific character. Their team spirit and togetherness as a bunch is the key to the success, along with their willingness to learn the game, and of course have fun along
