After months of competition, the winners of the UK Chess Challenge Bucks Megafinal were decided last week.

More than 60,000 young players from 2,000 schools across the region began in the tournament, but the field was reduced to 150 for the finals, with the county’s top players going head to head for one of the many titles at stake on the day.

Among the winners was Peter Eveling, from Hazeley Academy.

Peter won the U16 Boys competition, and will represent the region in the Southern Gigafinal, with a view to qualifying for the Terafinal in August, with a prize of £2,000 at stake.
