Owen Gidman’s stock keeps on rising as he conquered Michael Chalk for the right to represent England at the 3-Nations this weekend.
The 14-year-old Bletchley ABC fighter took on Chalk, from Guildford ABC, who is a year older, but showed no signs of nerves.
Chalk started round one on the front foot, and took the first round.
Gidman came back strong in rounds two and three, pushing the Guildford lad back with great right and left combinations and catching the judges eye to be awarded the winner by a split-decision.
Gidman now travels to Wales today (Thursday) to meet up with the England squad ahead of the tournament against fighters from Wales and Scotland.
