Taekwando ace Charlie Smith picked up the gold medal in sparring at a recent LTSI tournament.
Sparring is a form of controlled fighting with points allotted for achieving a punch or a kick against your opponent who wear protective gear - the sport however is completely non-conact.
Charlie, fighting for Phil Thomas’ BBTA Taekwando Academy in Milton Keynes, had to compete in an extra sparring fight on her way to the final due to the odd number of participants in her category.
But the 16-year-old showed no signs of fatigue as she took the gold medal, wowing the judges and her coaches on her way to victory.
