Amateur golfer Robert Horridge has won the “Oxford Audi Invitational” staged at the Frilford Heath GC in Abingdon with a score of 36-points in the Stableford rules matches over 18-holes.
The top qualifiers from this event will now pair up in a Regional Final at The Belfry Golf Club in Warwickshire on 29 July.
The one-day qualifying competition was one of almost 50 Audi quattro Cup Invitational events being staged throughout the UK. Seven Regional Finals are held in July and August with the top 18 “pairs” going forward in to the Audi quattro Cup UK Final at Bowood Golf & Country Club near Calne, Wiltshire (3 Sep).
Ultimately two “pairs” representing Great Britain compete in the Audi quattro Cup World Final staged at The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol Golf Club, Los Cabos, Mexico (29 Nov-3 Dec).
The Audi quattro Cup, being run for the 25th year, is the world’s largest amateur golf competition with almost 100,000 players from over 50 countries competing.
