Milton Keynes’ finest female rowers came up just shy of a place in the next round at the famous Henley Regatta at the weekend.

Competing against some of the best female crews in the world, the IM3 coxed 4 crew of Harriett Varney, Louisa Briar, Abigail Green, Lucy Millett and their cox Andy Darnell, represented Milton Keynes Rowing at the big event, and did themselves proud.

A powerful row saw the crew beat nine other clubs in the time trial.

However, such was the level of competition in their event, it wasn’t enough to see the MK boat qualify for the next round.

After their race Millett, who sits at bow, said despite missing out on a spot in the next round, the crew can take a lot from their performance at Henley and cannot wait to give it another shot next year.

“Henley and Women’s Henley are the biggest competitions of the year for most rowers,” she said.

“The competition is extremely tough, but that gives it an amazing atmosphere.

“Despite not getting through to the next round we had an incredible experience there.

“We are already looking forward to coming back and improving on our result next year.”
