Staines 3 MK Men 4

THE men of Milton Keynes got back to league action at the weekend with a trip to Staines where they recorded a highly impressive win.

Neither team played well in the early stages of the game, but it was the home side who raced into a 3-0 lead and MK were left facing a big defeat.

However, on the stroke of half time Richard Townsend scored for the visitors from a near impossible angle and in the second half they returned to the pitch a different side.

Townsend bagged a second just after the interval and with the momentum with them MK pressed for an equaliser. They soon got it as Russell Brazier took his goal tally to 12 for the season by converting a short corner and the game was tied.

Now the fitness of the away side was the difference with Staines unable to keep up as the younger, fitter MK went in search of a dramatic winner.

It arrived with only a couple of minutes remaining when a crossfield pass from Frazer McColl was slotted home in style by Mark Davies, flicking the ball into the top corner to seal the win.

Amersham 1 MK Ladies 2

THE ladies returned to action at Amersham and got back to winning ways.

MK keeper LJ Millers pulled off a couple of good saves to keep the hosts out in the first half, but Amersham took the lead just after the break.

However, Gemma Meredith scored the equaliser, and in almost identical fashion hit the winner - firing home a rebound from a penalty corner.
