Milton Keynes Storm U12s have be crowned champions of the Southern B Ice Hockey League after going unbeaten all season.
Storm travelled to Solent & Gosport for their final game of the season with everything riding on the result.
Storm had the upper hand going into the clash, having seen off the Destroyers 9-6 in their previous meeting. They were two points clear in the standings, but the home side still had their chance.
Storm’s nerves were eased as they raced into a 6-0 lead in the first period. The forwards were on fire and the defence was well organised.
And Storm came out even stronger in the second period to move further ahead, before eventually finishing the game with a commanding 13-4 win thanks to goals from Taylor Romeo (7), Callum Field (3), John Revell, Jordan Okell and Bryce Barnes-Garner.
Head coach Tim Coomes said: “The team have been just fantastic this year and I simply couldn’t have asked for more.
“We were unbeaten in 18 games and have deservedly become champions. Every player that has pulled on an MK Storm shirt this year has played a part in this success.
“My highlight of the year must be winning the league on the final day and seeing all the kids with huge smiles on their faces. They can be really proud of themselves.”
Storm are back in action on June 14 at the Sheffield Arena where they have been invited to a tournament. They won the competition last year and are hoping for a repeat.
