The 18-year-old defenceman was born in Birmingham but after moving to Canada he learned his skills thanks to extensive experience with the respected Okanagan Hockey Academy and also in the British Columbia Hockey League.

In the 2014-15 season he averaged more than a point per game with OHA - the highest scoring D-man in OHA Red Prep.

Jones has been on the radar of MKL Head Coach, Pete Russell, who is delighted with the signing.

“I’ve been aware of him and monitored his development in North America over the last few years,” said Russell.

“He has the ability to read the play well and pick-and-choose his spots when joining on the offensive.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to add him to the Lightning roster for the coming season and I hope our supporters enjoy watching his continued development.”

Jones added: “Pete is well-liked and respected by all of his former players so I know I can trust him to give me opportunities to develop.

“I’ve known for a while now that coming back to Britain to play in the EPL was something I wanted do and I’m excited to start my career with Milton Keynes Lightning.”
