Defenceman Jamo's back with Lightning

Two more signings to be revealed tonight

Talented defenceman Leigh Jamieson is coming home to Milton Keynes.

The city-born 24-year-old, pictured, has opted to sign for Milton Keynes Lightning after six years playing in the Elite League.

A product of the Milton Keynes junior programme Jamo made his debut for the former Milton Keynes Kings team in the 1999-2000 season.

He was one of the original Lightning team in 2002-2003 before being given a trial with the higher league Belfast Giants the following season.

The Giants liked what they saw and Jamo became an established defenceman for the club, staying until last year and making more than 250 appearances when he linked up with Coventry Blaze.

In addition the 6ft 3in former St Paul's School pupil has made a couple of dozen appearances for Team GB at the World Championships.

Player coach Nick Poole said: "I'm really pleased that Leigh is coming back – it's great for the team and great for Leigh. I know it was a difficult decision for him to make but now he's made it he's happy he did.

"Leigh's had a tough couple of years playing out of position as a forward. To say that I am happy with this signing is an understatement."

Poole is also delighted that after recent doubts over their future it appears that Bracknell Bees and Romford Raiders will be able to compete in the EPL.

Poole said they are important teams who play at home on Sundays – it would make MK's fixture programme difficult without them.

>> The supporters club holds its annual meeting tonight, Thursday, at 8pm at Planet Ice when two more signings will be announced – one a newcomer and the other a returnee.
