Testimonial for Poole on Saturday to end season on a high

Plenty of fun on and off the ice

THE disappointment of Sunday's play-off final loss will be forgotten on Saturday as fans celebrate the long time loyalty of Nick Poole to ice hockey in Milton Keynes.

After 10 years Poole is being rewarded with a testimonial.

He played for the former Kings team and has coached MK Lightning since their formation.

Team-mates past and present – including Justin Bekkering, Dwayne Newman and Simon Howard – will be among those returning for a game between two teams coached by Michael Wales and Adam Carr.

The list of players set to attend reads like a who's who of Milton Keynes ice hockey history from the past decade – plus some friends Poole has made along the way such as Romford Raiders' Mark Williams; former Solihull Blaze man latterly associated with Coventry, Luc Chabot and former London Knights goalie recently at Edinburgh, Pasi Raitanen.

Others returning include Mark Hazlehurst, James Pease, Kurt Irvine, Claude Dumas, Dan Croft, Mindy Kieras, Dean Campbell, Leigh Jamieson, Jesse Hammill and Phil Wooderson.

And there will be plenty of extra on ice fun during the intervals – the event starts at 6.30pm.

Tickets cost 7.50 for adults, 4 for children with a family ticket for two adults and two children priced at 20.

Tomorrow, Friday, the club hold their end of season presentations and party at the Jurys Inn Hotel in Central Milton Keynes.
