Thunder return to winning ways

MK Thunder broke their run of league losses with a well earned victory over Bracknell Hornets on Sunday.

Coming off the back of cup success the weekend before, the Milton Keynes side put together their best display of hockey so far this season, and got their rewards for keeping to the system for the full 60 minutes.

Thunder’s previous league games had seen them produce periods of good play, but they’d never put together a full game like this before and, as Sunday showed, when they do they are capable of beating anyone in this league.

Man of the match, Harrison Goode, got Thunder off to the perfect start with a seventh minute goal assisted by his brother Connor and Greg Randall.

The forward line of Goode, Randall, Goode, caused Hornets all sorts of problems throughout the game producing four of the five Thunder goals, but it was an unassisted goal from Mark Turner that gave the home side a 2-0 as he slotted the puck past Marashi in the Bracknell net from a tight angle.

At the other end, Bracknell had no luck finding a way past a resolute Thunder defence and an in-form Mark Woolfe in goal.

Harrison Goode extended the lead to 3-0 with a powerplay goal mid-way through the second period before Hornets eventually found a way through to make it 3-1 early in the final period, defender Richard Wojciak with a fierce shot from the blue line.

Harrison Goode restored the three goal lead mid period with his third of the night before Connor Goode wrapped up the scoring with five minutes to go to give Thunder a well deserved 5-1 win.
