Thunder stopper on standby list for GB

Young ice hockey goalie Jordan Hedley is on standby for the Great Britain squad set to travel to Estonia for the U18 World Championships later this month.

After impressing at recent training camps, the 16-year-old had thought he’d been picked as one of two netminders to take part in the competition, with GB taking on Hungary, Lithuania, Croatia, Romania and the host nation in Division Two A.

However, two years younger than his two national rivals, a place on the reserve list still represents great progress for the young stopper who has shone countless times for MK Thunder this season, and even featured for Lightning on occasions – most notably when he kept a clean sheet in a pre-season friendly win over Telford Tigers.
