Two big defeats for injury hit Thunder

Thunder had a tough weekend, with two away games against sides above them in the table bringing a couple of heavy defeats.

The city side went down 5-0 at Bracknell Hornets on Saturday before losing 8-2 at Chelmsford Chieftains the next day as they stay second from bottom of the Division One South standings.

The trip to Bracknell was a game where Thunder had a chance to pick up a point or two, but they came up against an in form Chris Douglas in the Hornets’ goal who kept out all that the visitors could throw at him.

That said, Thunder squandered a number of really good chances in front of goal and should have had four or five goals in the game.

With a couple of injuries from the day, Thunder then travelled to Essex on Sunday to face a high flying Chelmsford side without four of their regular defencemen.

Taking that into account, the city side battled well against a very skilful Chieftains outfit, coached by ex-Lightning sniper Gary Clarke.

Thunder’s goals came from Matt Roberts and Max Petruks, but that wasn’t enough to prevent another defeat as the season enters its final month.
