Jim McKellar will don the colours of Team GB on Sunday as he competes in the Triathlon World Championships in London.
The 77-year-old from Grange Park will take on 1,200 other athletes at the event in Hyde Park, having qualified after winning the silver medal at the British Triathlon Championships in Liverpool.
And despite only learning to swim three years ago, Jim said it is a dream come true.
He said: “I had to learn to swim at 74 years of age and endure some grueling training to compete in triathlons.
“However it has all been worth as now I have reached a life ambition of representing my country.”
