Karate club looks to the future

It has been a fantastic year for the Drayton Parslow Karate and Kickboxing club but they want more in 2015.

Run by Sensei Michael Lines, the club now has more than 60 child and adult students.

In 2014, the club produced five EKCA National Championships, along with numerous other trophies and medals.

And impressively, the club has also produced two ECKA grand prix winners in Robyn Jackson and Meg Hounslow.

The grand prix is a series of five tournaments where a competitor gains points for finishing in the top three so it is a tough thing to win as it is the outcome of a hard year of competing.

Robyn won the novice adults category and 19-year-old Meg won the advanced adults category.

Meg’s achievements didn’t end there though.

She was called up to represent WAKO Great Britain at the European Championships in Slovenia in November.

The year was rounded out perfectly with Alex Wallace attaining his level 1st Dan Black Belt.
