MK Knights opened the gap at the top of the Midland Development League but will need to make up a deficit in the first round of the KO Cup.

Saturday night saw the Knights in Stoke to take on second placed side Stoke Spitfires.

Led by a dominant Sam Chapman, who came away with 12 points, Knights notched another fine away win 23-14.

The win means Knights are now eight points clear of Spitfires at the top of the league.

Knight were brought back down to Earth on Sunday though, suffering a home defeatet to Rye House Raiders in the first leg of the KO Cup.

Knights were missing Chapman after he was called up for National League action, but they put up a strong resistance in the face of a very experienced Raiders team.

With Skipper Jez Pestell and Niall Strudwick experiencing bike problems, Knights went down to their first home defeat of the season, losing 21-15.

The meeting also saw Jez Pestell called to ride for Mildenhall in their match against Kent Kings where he scored a very creditable 2+1 from the No. 6 berth.

Knights now face a run of away fixtures including the away leg of the KO Cup at Rye House before returning to home action against Belle Vue on Sunday June 29 - the only team to defeat Knights on their travels this season.
