Lions to play games at thecentre:mk

British Basketball League to come to shopping centre

The Marshall MK Lions have confirmed they will play home games at Middleton Hall from January.

The Lions finish their tenure at the Bletchley Leisure Centre, their home since 1997, in December.

They had planned to move into a brand new purpose built arena at stadium:mk, but the venue has been hit by delays following the credit crunch.

The former British Cup Champions will play their first game in Middleton Hall on January 12 when they entertain the Essex Pirates and will play nine more home games there.

Lions chief executive, Vince Macaulay said: "Playing at Middleton Hall will be a real spectacle that will bring basketball to a whole new audience as we await our entrance into the Arena to sit alongside the MK Dons. There will be additional seating and plenty of entertainment."

thecentremk director, Robert Goodman said: "We are delighted to be able to work with the Marshall MK Lions to ensure they remain in Milton Keynes by staging their home games in Middleton Hall next year.

"Using this venue ensures the games are instantly accessible to a wide audience who may not usually attend thereby increasing the MK Lions exposure."
