Wolves beaten at start of crunch week
The week that will go a long way to deciding whether or not Lions have the ability to launch a serious BBL title challenge got off to a good start at Middleton Hall on Tuesday night.
Lions play three home games in the space of just five days this week as they look to cut the gap on Sheffield Sharks and Newcastle Eagles at the top of the pile.
Their 97-90 victory over a tough Worcester side sees them cut the gap on Sharks to 12 points, and they still have four games in hand.
Wolves made a bright start at Middleton Hall - sold out with more than 1,000 fans for the third game in a row - but trailed 27-14 by the end of the opening quarter.
They hit back in the second to cut the gap to 50-42 going into the locker rooms and suddenly the Midlands side's position in the table started to look a false one.
However EJ Harrison was to prove the main difference for LIons - not for the first time this term - and his second half heroics helped Vince Macaulay's men to victory.
He bagged 28 points on another impressive night and he'll need to be on top form again when Everton Tigers visit on Friday night, before Eagles come to town on Sunday.
