Marathon delight for MK’s athletes

Rick Lloyd was the winner of the third annual Milton Keynes Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday.

Finishing in 2:43.25, the Stockport Harriers runner was more than three minutes ahead of Devon and Cornwall Police’s Alex Daniels in second.

But it was the man who came home in third that gave some real local pride to the event, as David Lloyd Redway Runners’ Jamie Farmer finished in 2:47.19.

Team-mate Stephen Richardson wasn’t far behind, finishing fifth in 2:50.07.

Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club were represented at the event too, with eight runners in the pack. Malcolm Down was firt over the line for them in 3:19, with John Skelton next in 3:21.58. Then came Keith Brown 3:42.31, Chris Cahill 3:47.19, Chris Nicholson 3:47.38, Chris Worton 4:00.41, Neil Jones 4:05.45 and Tony Byrne 5:19.03.

Chris Brookman broke the three-hour mark for MK Lakeside runners, coming home in 2:55.25.
