Milton Keynes Badminton cruised to their first home win of the National Badminton League season against Birmingham Lions, winning 3-2 at Stantonbury.
Toby Penty and Jess Pugh got MK Badminton off to a flying start with a 3-1 win over Alyssa Lim and Nico Ruponen in the mixed doubles to put the home side one game up.
Following them, Jessica Mayne and Sophie Sanke were 3-0 winners in the women’s pairs against Heather Olver and Jess Hopton as MK moved within a point of victory.
And that victory was assured by Sam Parsons as he saw off Ben Beckman 3-1, giving MK and unassailable 3-0 lead.
Despite result being settled, Birmingham pulled a point back through Fontaine Chapman as she beat Elizabeth Cann 3-1.
Gary Fox and Koen Ridder made the score line flatter the visitors with a 3-1 victory over MK skipper Peter Mills and Paul van Rietvelde in the men’s doubles, but the result was mere consolation.
