Just like in cricket, hat-tricks don’t come along very often in motorsport, but Jeff Wyatt defied the odds when he took three wins in a row in the GT Championship.
The city racer saw off all comers in the latest round at Brands Hatch, driving his Geoff Steel Racing prepared BMW M4 E46 around the shortened Indy circuit.
His first two wins came in the shorter 25 minute sprint races, with his hat-trick drive then coming in the 40 minute pit-stop race.
And the result sees Wyatt now lead the way in the UK’s national series for GT racing.
Racing in the GTA class, his three victories see him leap to the top of the championship standings, and third place in the overall standings.
“As race weekends go, that was a special one,” said Wyatt afterwards. “Everything just came together, the set up, me, everything!
“It was not without drama though. As well as the usual cut and thrust of sprint races, the team also had to repair a broken clutch between the two 25 minute races. There wasn’t much time and a lot needed to be done to fix it.”
Wyatt is next in action at Oulton Park in July.
