Newport Pagnell racer Alex Nuttall extended his lead in the MK2 Golf GTI Championship with back-to-back wins at Snetterton.
The 20-year-old had a disappointing qualifying session and had to start fourth for the opening race.
However, an excellent start saw him jump into the lead ith close rival Simon Tomlinson right on his tail for the whole race, Alex had to do some clever defensive driving.
It wasn’t enough and Tomlinson dived through the inside on a corner and took the lead but not without a touch and some minor damage to both cars.
As Tomlinson stretched out a five second lead over Alex, he dug deep and managed to catch up.
Another altercation between the pair on the last lap, presented an opportunity for Alex as he tried to overtake on the outside of a corner. Tomlinson pushed him out but left himself in a bad position for the hairpin turn where Alex had the inside.
Alex got ahead once again with just a small straight to go to the flag and it was a drag race to the finish.
It was another extremely close call between the two but Alex was delighted to take the win.
The second race saw Alex in pole position where he led from the start to the end and also attained the fastest lap.
