WORLD champions Red Bull Racing have thrown down the gauntlet to their title rivals with a series of rapid laps in testing.
Both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have topped the timing sheets in Barcelona this week, posting times comfortably quicker than their rivals ahead of the season opener in Australia in two weeks.
But despite the RB7 appearing to be the best car of the 2011 pack, F1 world champion Vettel thinks that others may have something up their sleeves ahead of the first race in Melbourne.
He said: “We have had no major problems with reliability throughout testing and the speed looks good as far as we can judge, but I think we have to wait until after Melbourne - maybe in Malaysia or China - to really see where we are.
“And with the tyres we’ll be having more than two stops for sure, so it could be a different kind of racing - we will find out in Australia.”
Following the cancellation of the scheduled season opener in Bahrain, the first race will take place on Sunday March 27.
