Daniel Ricciardo put the morning's problems behind him to finish the first day of pre-season testing in fifth place in Barcelona.
The Australian put the first miles on Red Bull Racing's new car, the RB13, on Monday, but came unstuck after just four laps in the morning session with an engine sensor problem, which then uncovered a battery issue.
It forced Ricciardo to remain in the garage until mid-afternoon, but with the problems sorted, he was able to complete 50 laps before the close of play with a fastest time of 1:22.962
Three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton led the way in Barcelona as he took over from new team-mate Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes in the afternoon session. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, Felipe Massa in the Williams and Kevin Magnussen's Renault.
The 2017 cars are expected to be considerably quicker than their predecessors, and Hamilton's time set one Day 1 was quicker than his pole position time last year.
Max Verstappen will take over testing duties on Day 2 of the test.
