Joe Turney has broken into the top 10 seeded cadet kart drivers in the country.
After a gruelling season, the 13-year-old has battled in two national championships, rather than racing on the local club scene.
After competing in 14 difficult races across the UK talented Joe now been formally recognised by the MSA (Motorsport Association) securing a 10th place seed in the Official British Championship and ranking seventh in the equally competitive “Little Green Man” series.
He will be presented with his award at the Autosport Awards ceremony in January.
His proud dad Jim said: “We operate on an extremely low budget and this inevitably impacted on Joe’s overall performance making his achievement even more impressive.”
David Bellchambers, Joe’s team manager and ex champion driver said: “Joe has been a driver to watch this year, across the season he faced many highs and lows but always showed great race-craft and determination.
“He kept fighting despite on track incidents including an engine failure which cost him dearly in Scotland.
“He’s been a great driver to have in my team.”
Next season, the team hope Joe can take the step up to Junior British Championships.
To enter the next class Joe has to buy all new equipment, he attracted some great TV coverage in 2014 and would benefit immensely from a sponsor. If you know of a business that can help Joe please contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
