Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo has been disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix for a breach of fuel flow rules.
Ricciardo, driving his first race for the Tilbrook team, finished second at his home Grand Prix on Sunday - his first career podium.
But F1 governing body the FIA released a statement after the race, claiming that the RB10 was in breach of the regulations.
An FIA statement said: “During the race car #3 has exceeded consistently the maximum allowed fuel flow of 100kg/h.”
Red Bull have been found in breach of article 5.1.4 of the 2014 technical regulations.
Ricciardo’s disqualification promotes McLaren’s Kevin Magnussen to second, and his team-mate Jenson Button to third.
