National medals for rowing masters

MILTON Keynes Rowing Club is celebrating an exceptional week after picking up two medals at a top national competition.

Liz Tatman, Helen Jones, Paula Heywood and Andrea Grossey rowed their way to victory at the National Masters Championships held in Nottingham at the weekend, taking the gold medal in the ladies coxed four race.

Benn Klewpatinond and Tim Grossey also enjoyed success in the men’s competition as they collected silver as runners-up in the pairs race after a hard-fought contest against top crews from across the country.

The club’s wins at the National Watersports Centre followed on the back of their success at the Peterborough Regatta a week earlier when the team won six events – enough to see them finish in third place overall.

The standard of rowing in MIlton Keynes is getting better and better by the year, and the club is earning itself a good reputation within British rowing, as well as being a force to be reckoned with locally.

Anyone interested in adding to the club’s success can get involved next weekend when an open day is set to take place from 11am at Caldecotte Lake, and details can be found at www.mkrowing.org.uk
