Olney set for league finale after cup win

Muddiman Cup back in Bucks

Olney lifted the Muddiman Cup when they recorded an emphatic

80-7 win at Long Buckby in the annual fixture between the sides.

Olney made the trip with a mixture of players and although the game was totally one-sided, credit must go to the brave Long Buckby players who pulled on a club shirt to fulfil the fixture.

The hosts also lost their second row forward to an injury early on and another player had to leave the field after being knocked out cold.

Olney then proceeded to score tries from all over the field and their scores came from S Filler, S Harrison (2), T T-Davies (2), C Small, M Chaplin (2), D Smith, G Stanton and G Fogg with conversions from Davies (8), DJ Dan and Harrison.

>> With the 1sts and 2nds not playing last weekend, Bletchley 3rds took the limelight only to suffer a 34-5 defeat against Dunstable 3rds, who were seeking a win to ensure the league title.

Dunstable led 21-5 at half time with Bletchley's try from Simon Williams, who ran in from some 60 metres to score.

Bletchley play their final South West Two East fixture of the season on Saturday when they entertain third placed Cheltenham, Bletchley already doomed to finish in the bottom two in the table although there is to be no relegation this season.

Olney too play their final South West Two East fixture of the season on Saturday when they travel to face league leaders Maidenhead.

Any supporters wishing to join the team on the coach should let the coaches know by tonight (Thursday).
