A weekend to forget for MK hockey teams

editorial image

IT was a weekend of disappointing defeats for the majority of Milton Keynes Hockey Club’s players, although a 12-0 win for the Men’s Samurai team gave them something to cheer about.

The Ladies’ 1sts suffered a 6-0 defeat to Eastcote in their earlier meeting this term, and although they couldn’t cause an upset this time, they performed far better with a narrow 2-1 defeat – Sophie Reynolds’s goal giving MK a chance of nicking a draw.

Elsewhere the Men’s 1sts went down 1-0 to Eastbourne, the 2nds suffered a 3-2 defeat to Banbury – despite goals from Jack Luther and Paul Hutchinson – the Men’s 4ths drew 2-2 against Aylesbury, the Ladies’ 2nds lost 1-0 to Reading, and the Ladies’ 3rds crashed 6-1 to Gerrards Cross.

The Men’s Samurai team enjoyed a 12-0 win over Maidenhead, with Alex Thorne the man of the match.
