City rowers delighted with sports award
MILTON Keynes rowers were delighted to be amongst the many clubs and talented individuals who received awards at the MK Sports Achiever of the Year presentation night last week.
Club captain Tim Grossey and his rowing partner Benn Klewpatinond took the Team of the Quarter award in recognition of their achievements – silver at the Masters Regatta in Nottingham last May, and the Henley Masters in July where they beat stiff competition for the gold medal in what is undoubtedly one of the highlights in the rowing calendar.
Following receipt of their award, Tim and Benn said: “This is a great achievement. We are so proud to represent the city and share in the celebration of sporting success.
“Meeting Greg Rutherford and athletes from across the city made for a fantastic evening.”
When asked what they will use the prize money for, the pair were quick to ensure that the summer’s sporting legacy can continue, noting that the £50 prize money will be put to good use in contributing to new equipment for the club, which has seen a massive increase in membership since the London Olympics.
