MK gymnastics boys in the medals

MILTON Keynes gymnasts held a brilliant competition in memory of their coach Tom Willson last Sunday.

A fantastic total of 132 boys representing more than 10 clubs from around the country – and even one from Austria – turned out to compete at the Kingston Centre.

The boys all had a great day, many winning loads of medals, presented by Loraine Willson, Tom’s wife. She then stood on the podium herself to receive a bunch of flowers from the host club.

It’s been a busy time for the Milton Keynes club, and as soon as the event for Tom was finished, the boys were packing their bags and getting ready to head off to a high level competition on the Isle of Man.

The club was represented by 10 boys who all performed their routines wonderfully, bringing home loads of medals.

In the grade level two, Harry Saxon won one bronze and four silver medals, while Leo Zervos earned two silver and a fantastic five gold.

Andrew Beckley stepped up to level two for the first time and finished 4th on floor and 5th on pommel.

In the U14s Lewis Dean won two bronze, two silver and one gold medal, while both Gregory Beckley and Jacob Nicols-Cook also competed well.

In the O14s, Bradley Smith picked up three bronze medals, Edward Dean earned two bronze and two silver, and Dylan Zastron returned home with three silver and two gold. Matthew Wilson also competed well.

Not only have the club’s boys been busy, but the girls are also preparing for an exciting trip to Malta for a big international competition coming up on December 15.
