MK rowers impressive on the River Thames

MILTON Keynes Rowing Club members are enjoying a fantastic start to the new season, including great results from two prestigious ‘Fours Head of the River’ races along the famous Boat Race course on the Thames last weekend.

Three women’s crews from the city club put in solid performances, taking on clubs from up and down the country, with some individuals completing the course twice in as many days.

Taking on more than 40 clubs, the ladies, racing on Saturday in the Fours Head, finished inside the top half in the Women’s Intermediate 2 category, having been pushed hard along the course by a crew from Hammersmith who were hot on their heels all the way along the four-and-a half-mile course.

On the Sunday, the ladies in the Women’s Quad followed in their footsteps competing in the ‘Masters Fours Head’ race, finishing a very respectable fourth out of 12 crews in the Women’s Masters C category.

Club captain Tim Grossey was delighted with the ladies’ efforts. He said: “These are excellent results for Milton Keynes Rowing Club and they show the strength and depth of the women’s squad when competing at national level.”
