Pathfinders downed by strong Gladiators

Amercian football side lose out to Essex rivals

The MK City Pathfinders hosted the Colchester Gladiators in the British/American League Division Two at Manor Fields on Sunday and lost out 67-0.

In the sweltering heat Colchester opened the first quarter with a touchdown and kicked for the extra point. And the visitors continued to dominate, but Pathfinders did at least manage to block the kick from Colchester's second touchdown which ended the quarter.

The second quarter ended with the score 27-0 as the Milton Keynes side struggled to live with the Gladiators' running game.

Half time saw both sides seeking shade and plenty of water, and it was Colchester who dealt the better with the heat as they stretched their lead even further after the break.

The two remaining quarters became a romp as Colchester scorrf with sweeps and outstanding runs out of the backfield which simply wore down a now depleted City side.

Coach Charlie Edwards was quick to point out that Colchester are undefeated this season and are likely to be promotion at the end of the season.

"MK City are currently the only team to score against Colchester this season when the sides met down in Essex, so that shows how strong as side they are," said Edwards.

The club would like to thank St John ambulance and the Irish Centre for their continuing support.

Pathfinders now have a week's rest before they host Bedford at Manor Fields on June 7.
