There were no shortage of winners for MK Rowing Club at the Bedford Regatta.
Alex Noble and Abi Green, who have both only just recently completed the club’s Learn to Row Course, won their category proving that racing is possible even after rowing for only a few weeks.
Also winning in the Men’s Intermediate 2 Coxed Four event were Club Captain, Benn Klewpatinond along with Josh Harris, Kevin Lilla and Tom Hopkins, coxed by Steve Lawson.
They beat Sudbury in the first round by half a boat length and powered their way through the final against Robinson College, just edging over the finish line three quarters of a boat length ahead.
Next to win were the ladies in the Women’s Intermediate 3 Eight event with Heidi Towse, Lindy Gray, Tara Adams, Louisa Briar, Kat Sullivan, Carianne De Boer, Clare Lawson and Helen Sanderson, coxed by Benn Klewpatinond.
They beat Cantabridgian in the first round and City of Cambridge by a canvas in the final in a nail-biting finish.
The final win of the day was from the ladies in the Women’s Masters Quadruple Scull, with Lou Rivett, Cath Keeling, Paula Heywood and Karen Wilson who came up against two strong Marlow crews, beating the second one in the final by three quarters of a length.
This was a surprise win for the ladies having had limited training time together before the race.
