Bletchley Ladies took no time to adapt to theeir new surroundings as they crushed Old Leamingtonians Ladies 29-10 on the opening day of the season.

Having won promotion to Midlands National Challenge 1 after an undefeated season last time out, Bletchley fell behind to the team who finished third last season, only for Lauren Delaney to level things up at 5-5. It would turn out to be quite a half for the Bletchley star.

Finding their feet, Bletchley took the lead when Delaney scored her second try of the afternoon, with Rachael Taylor kicking the extras to make it 12-5.

And Delaney completed her hat-trick before half time, taking advantage of a dreadful Leamingtonians kick to touch down, extending Bletchley’s lead to 17-5 at the interval.

Bletchley demonstrated their determination to succeed in their new league by taking the opening try just two minutes into the second half as that girl Delaney again added her fourth try.

Taylor did her bit with the boot opening the gap further to 24-5.

In a similar way to the first half, this was quickly matched by Old Leamingtonians, just five minutes later, with a corner try to reduce the gap to 25-10.

But Bletchley still hadn’t finished. It only took four minutes for Becky Driscoll to put the ball over the line again, bringing the score to 29-10, and a comfortable victory in their first game at this new level.
