Bletchley miss out on Junior Cup final spot

Bletchley Ladies missed out on a place in the Junior Cup final as they lost 19-10 to Drybrooke at Manor Fields on Sunday.

Both sides are within a game of winning their league titles, but had their minds fully focussed on the semi final, and it turned out ot be a nip and tuck affair.

It took 24 minutes before the first points weer put on the boad, and they came courtesy of Jodie Denton, who crossed the line to put Bletchley 5-0 ahead.

The lead would last 10 minutes though as Bletchey were caught napping at a penalty, allowing Drybrooke back into the game.

The visitors took the lead 10 minutes into the second half thanks to a rapid breakaway try, and simple converstion to lead 12-5.

Bletchley came back again though, and after stealing a Drybrooke line-out, Verity Robinson scored in the corner to pull the game within two points at 12-10.

With the game finely poised, Caroline Collie narrowly missed a penalty to put Bletchley ahead, but the home side were caught again on the break as Drybrooke raced down field to score the decisive try to win 19-10 and secure their place in the final.

Next week the ladies return to their league battle, travelling up to Birmingham for their final match with Five Ways Old Edwardians Ladies.

A win will secure the league for them, beating rivals and neighbours Olney Ladies to the crown.
