Despite just two points separating the sides in the league prior to kick off, it took just two minutes for Bletchley to open the scoring as Georgia Green touched down, Rachael Taylor kicking the extras.

It was soon 12-0 when Clare Stacey took Caroline Collie’s pass to run the length of the field to score, and Green added her second to make it 17-0.

Back came Shelford though, pressurising the Bletchley defence into giving away a penalty, allowing them to touch down in the corner.

But back came Bletchley, as a minute later Jennie Davies made it 22-5, which it remained until the interval.

The second half proved to be much of the same for both sides as Bletchley ran in six more tries to Shelford’s one.

Collie got her first before Shelford threatened to make a game of it at 29-12.

But further scores from Rachael Taylor (2), Davies (2) and another from Collie made sure of the emphatic result, giving them breathing room in the league - the gap now seven points to Shelford.

And the two teams meet again next weekend, this time in Shelford.
