Bletchley Ladies cruised into the third round of the Women’s Junior Cup with a 39-12 win over Peterborough on Sunday.
Bletchley had already enjoyed a 10-0 victory over Peterborough earlier this season, so expected the visitors to arrive with something to prove.
And it appeared as though they were stepping up to the plate when they opened the scoring after just seven minutes, converting a try for a 7-0 lead.
It took 15 minutes for Bletchley to eventually get on the scoreboard, as Rachael Taylor scored their first try.
Within five minutes, Bletchley were over again as Cons Novas made it 10-7 to the home side. From there, they never looked back.
Cazzandra Kay added another score before half time as Bletchley led 15-7 at the break.
That changed within a minute of the restart as Lauren Delaney scored between the posts, with Rachael Taylor kicking the extras.
Taylor then scored her second of the afternoon and Bletchley’s fifth try as the lead was once again extended, now at 27-7.
Bletchley turned defence into attack when Delaney chased back to intercept, and then picked up a return pass on the break to score her second try of the game as Bletchley looked in total control at 34-7.
Peterborough pulled a try back late on, but Claire Sutton put the cherry on the cake, capping a brilliant team move with the final try of the afternoon to complete the scoring at 39-12.
