After crashing out of the Midlands Cup last week, Olney returned to league action to make it four wins in a row, climbing up to seventh in the Midland 2 East South table, now level on points with Luton.

It only took Olney eight minutes to get into the scoring mood as Jake Deighton touched down, with Jordan Letts kicking the extras for a 7-0 lead.

Luton got back in it with a try of their own, which went unconverted on 20 minutes, but back came the home side eight minutes later, taking a 10-5 lead thanks to Letts’ boot.

They maintained their lead against the physical Luton outfit until the break, but five minutes into the second, a moment of magic from Rich Cowan saw him shrug off the tackles to score a brilliant solo effort to take his side into a 15-5 lead.

This gave the visitors a wake-up call , they substituted one of their lock forwards, and piled on the pressure. Olney responded, the back row managed to find some extra gears, Jeremiah Shields and Jake Ashton replaced Ollie Francis and Jim Osborn and they weathered the storm.

But with the visitors beginning to tire, Olney found another gear, and after a period of pressure, Brandon Kerr was able to score their third try of the afternoon. Letts added the extras to complete the scoring.
