Olney took their third win out of four on the road against Oadby Wyggestonians on Saturday, winning 20-12 to move into fifth in Midlands 2 East South.
Olney had to come from a try down when the home side crossed the line after 25 minutes.
But the home side’s 5-0 lead lasted just four minutes as Brandon Kerr scored for Olney, with Stuart Livesey adding the extras.
Livesey’s boot added two penalties before half time as Olney took a 13-5 lead in at the break.
Olney kicked off to start the second half and were immediately on the attack, they followed up and when halted by a scrum being called against them, in the home 22, turned the Wyggs’ forwards and gained the put in.
The ball was won and the best handling, so far, resulted in a break by fly half James Padfield ending with a try for Will Edwards, on the wing. Livesey did the business once again, opening up a 20-5 lead for the visitors.
The game was revived when Wyggs won a scrum and a further line out as Olney attempted to clear their lines. This time they set up a driving maul and released their left wing to score in the corner.
The conversion sailed over to put the home side closer, but not close enough at 20-12, as Olney escaped with the win.
