Olney rugby youngsters book big day out at Twickenham

editorial image

PICTURED are the young boys of Olney’s U11 team who will represent Northampton Saints at this season’s Aviva Premiership Rugby Final after they scooped the title of Land Rover Rugby Cup champions on Saturday.

Some 16 teams and 200 young players from around the region were at Franklin’s Gardens, competing to earn the right to walk out at a packed Twickenham Stadium in May next year, and Olney’s try-scoring exploits throughout the tournament saw them crowned as champions.

As well as winning the tournament and receiving their medals on the pitch during half time in the Saints versus Saracens clash, the young players also earned their place in the prestigious Land Rover Parade of champions where they will be presented to the crowd during the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final next May. Now they will be hoping Saints make it there too!
