Rugby club's Calendar Boys hand over cheque

Milton Keynes do their bit for Cancer Research

Milton Keynes Rugby Club handed over a cheque worth 3,000 to Lizzie Melvin from Cancer Research UK on Saturday.

The money was raised by members of the club from sales of their 'Odd Shaped Balls – 2009' naked calendar.

Nearly 1,000 copies of the calendar were sold due to the great efforts of everyone involved.

The idea for the calendar came from former chairman Gary Spinks after too many hours watching his favourite film The Calendar Girls, although he somehow managed to avoid actual participation.

Players from the first, second and third senior men's teams were more than willing to get their kit off!
