SUN, beer and rugby proved a dream combination for 20 teams on Saturday as Milton Keynes hosted their annual end of season tournament.
The club’s 36th Sevens competition was one of the biggest yet with sides from Dunstable, Ampthill and Leighton Buzzard taking on the best of Milton Keynes, as a variety of music acts set the stage for an enjoyable day for not only the players, but local rugby fans who turned out for a drink or two.
The action was split into five levels, with the top competition, the PJ Care Hemingway Shield, being won by 7 Dwarfs, while the Bluefin Insurance Plate was claimed by Trojan 7s.
The third level prize, the Domestique Cleaning Services Bowl, was won by Old Laurentians Racing Snakes, and the PXV Sport Wooden Spoon brought a victory for Milton Keynes 2nds.
In fact another home team also tasted success in the final competition – the appropriately named Beer Cup.
Pre-season training for the new league season starts at the end of the month, and City start their new Southern Counties North campaign away at local rivals Olney.
