Weakened Olney side dumped out of the Cup

Olney crashed out of the Midlands Division Cup on Saturday as they lost to Earlsdon 32-12 in Coventry on Saturday.

Forced into five changes among the backs, Olney’s inexperience was immediately exploited by the home side, who raced into a 20-0 lead by half time.

It threatened to be more of the same in the second period as Earlsdon scored again shortly after the restart, but Olney finally got on the board when Marcus Goss scored with 10 minutes to go.

Earlsdon scored again with two minutes to go, before Jordan Letts scored and then converted his own try to reduce the gap.

Despite the first team losing, Olney’s second string were in victorious form on Saturday as they beat Ampthill 5ths 29-21.

The 3rds too picked up a great win, as they saw off Cranfield 24-12.

More success came when the Vets beat Brackley in a closely fought 12-7 win.

And the Colts were in dominant mood, thrashing Old Scouts 32-7.
